BUILDING A NETWORK OF SELF-RELIANT VILLAGESConnect | Inform | Empower
Through its social networking services and village-focused content, Knitter seeks to become an information destination that simplifies the process of attaining self-reliance.
PEOPLE WHOM WE SERVE
Close to 70% of India's population lives in villages, and they have maintained a simple outlook towards life for millennia. Every aspect of the village reflects this simplicity - be it the food sourced from the local produce, or the festivals and fairs that bring together the populace. Villages in India are naturally beautiful, as many of them are tucked away in deserts, hilly areas, near forests or beside rivers. Farming remains the primary occupation of the villages, with others being pottery, carpentry, fishing, rearing livestock, and blacksmithing. The social bonding is stronger compared to the cities, and every evening, the villagers assemble at a fixed place, exchange news, share opinions and chat till its late. Administrative bodies like Gram Sabha and the Panchayat, act as the liaison between the government and the villagers and takes the executive decisions on rural development.

As Knitter keeps us informed about our village, this could ultimately become our place to meet and discuss in future.
